Thank God it's Friday!

Well, of course, this post is about yesterday, Friday. It was just now that I was able to find time to update this poor blog of mine. Anyways, here.

Yesterday, I started my day super early (because I had to). I had to wake up around 5am but ended up, just like the usual, oversleeping. When I say super early, it is because it is super relatively early according to my time. I had to meet my 152 groupmates by 6am in BA steps but ok there, I was late. I am super dooper sorry. :( We had to go to Batasan Hills for our practicum in 152 involving their SPED department. We were supposed to have our practicum in Philippine Children's Medical Center (for the same reason that Aya, Iskra and I like kids) but our professor changed her mind about it and decided we had it in one of the SPED Centers in her list. When I knew about the change of practicum plans, I was actually excited and nervous at the same time. Excited because I have always liked kids. Nervous because they are not the ordinary kids I usually play with, they are special. And just like anything special, they have to be treated with utmost care. Nonetheless, I told myself even before this, it is going to be great. Kids are kids, however way adults categorize them as.

On my way to meeting my groupmates in BA, I remembered someone (er..you know who you are. :D ). This SPED practicum reminded me that I told that person about this practicum and so, I texted him a good morning message (which is quite unusual since I am not a morning person). And we had small talk. And yes, I am glad I took a time off to greet him. As I told him, he made me smile that morning, so wide that I think it can last for the whole day. haha! Just what I needed to start a long day, and well, just right after my entire week has gone black! haha! :)

The visit to Batasan Hills Elem. School was really fun. I wish I can visit another time there. Hmm.. made me think. What if I organize a group or whatever, not necessarily a formal one, that mainly helps SPED centers in taking care of the kids? I mean, Ma'am Maricon made us feel that just by spending time with the kids, it was of great help. They are not rich people's kids. And they appreciate the attention anyone can give. Of course, after the visit, I already had some favorites.

One is DANIEL. I bet he's around 6 or 7. He is super nice. He's not magulo actually. He did what he was told to do and he really looks and listens intently at you, waiting to do what you'd tell him to do. He's a cute kid, really. Very behave actually. And he looks cute when he smiles, which he rarely did when we were there. And it was so nice when he said goodbye to us when they had to go home.

The other one is PAUL. He's around 7 years old, too. The complete opposite of Daniel. Very energetic. When we were just there for about 5 minutes, we already had an idea what he'd do later. He laughed non-stop and he wanted to ran off somewhere, usually out there at their school ground or to the nearby office which is the Principal's Office. Their teacher, Ma'am Maricon, hugged him tight and told him to behave. And well, during the motor skills activities, when they were told to run and to jump until they reach the finish line, he would actually not do it. Instead, he would somersault and cartwheel and what-nots to reach the finish line. We actually cheered him on when he did his somersault the first time. One time, when he did one of his exhibitions, he tripped on one of the kids, Lanny, and they ended up both falling. What was nice about him was that he actually helped Lanny up and asked her, "Ok ka lang? Ok na?" And I was there both pulling them up. It made me smile. I was also the one who assisted Paul in their coloring activity. He was actually smart. There were number-coding of which parts to color what color. So whenever I ask him and the other kid, Joven, to look for the numbers corresponding to a certain color, he was the bibo one to tell me, "Eto o! saka eto!" And he would enthusiastically start coloring them. He was actually the first one to finish and then Joven, among all the other kids. We're such great team! haha! He was such an energetic kid! I think he would be just like an ordinary kid if not for being so hyper.

Over all, it was really a great day! It was tiring, yeah, but still, just like everytime I climb a wall and top it out, or after a game of badminton, even I feel so tired and sweaty, I feel so satisfied. I know, I did something. It doesn't have to be that big but I know, that after I did that, I made something different this time around.

I actually can't wait for PAG-ASA next semester. Last year, Gil, Irina and I were the organizers of PAG-ASA. And it was really fun having a Christmas party for those kids. Of course, I can't forget my favorite kid there, Linden. And now that another PAG-ASA will be held, and this time, bigger, I can't wait, really. I bet, there would be a lot more kids there. *smiles*

Virge and Kuya often tell me they are anxious about me liking kids so much because I may end up having a kid of my own. haha! Although, I know it was meant to be a joke. But I think what I like about children are their innocence, simplicity and in some occasions, their wisdom, that even the smartest adult can figure out. :) If you want to forget about your problems, just play with the kids and even, talk to them about anything or ask them random questions and they would blurt out the funniest and often smartest answers you'd ever hear. :) And what's good about kids, when you think you already made them believe what you're telling them, they would tell you, "Hmph, Kuya/Ate, niloloko mo lang ako e." Haha! And you'd think, "I told the same lines to an adult and the he/she believed me." As I see it, it was just that the adults chose to pretend they believed you (for whatever reason) while kids are honest enough to tell you in your face that they can't believe you. Bottomline? Kids don't lie. The younger they are, the more pure they are. :)

P.S.
Hey, YOU really are such a nice and sweet person, a lot more than me, I tell you, even if you refuse to accept the fact that you really are. :)
